Dudes Day: Vol. 7

Well it wasn’t the most exciting Dudes Day but we had fun anyway. We started the morning with a free breakfast from the hotel we were staying in we have had some flooding problems at the house so the insurance company has us in a hotel until things can get back together. We stayed in a Drury and their breakfasts are pretty top notch and they seemed satisfactory for my little prince. Today is our last day staying here so after breakfast we are planning on packing up and heading over to my families house to stay for the next couple of days. This is a very important day for me for 3 reasons. 1. Today is our first softball game of the season. 2. It is opening day for cardinals baseball, and 3. This will be the first year my son is old enough to experience all of that with me.

Waffle House

This was a totally unexpected trip to waffle house this week. We were on our way to the sporting goods store for softball supplies when my son said to me ” Are we going to Waffle House” I said “no, we already ate breakfast at the hotel. Don’t you remember?” His response was awesome ” but its Dudes Day”. How could I possibly say no to that? Well of course when we walked in all the workers recognized him as the pickle kid. He ate a waffle, 2 strips of bacon, one egg, and of course a bowl of pickles.

Sporting good store

We went to the store because I wanted to get a couple of things before the softball season started- a bat and some socks and also because my son and I seem to have a pretty good time when ever we go there. Today was no exception, he was fascinated with the bats this time and had picked out one that he said was just his size. It was his size literally. We basically rolled basketballs up and down the aisles as he tried to hit them. Don’t judge me. We didnt hurt anybody and we barely caused any damage. It was fun.

Softball

I play in a recreational wood bat league league in our parish and most of the guys are my age or older. We are not very good but we have a lot of fun and because it is a parish ball field the family has a pretty good time too. After the game my son and I got a chance to run around the base paths a couple of times. I will remember that moment forever. Its just another one of those milestones that i will forever be grateful for. That night we went home showered and watched the home opener cardinal game. Like Ice Cube says “Today was a Good Day”

  1. I’ll always remember your first time at bat ! You got to 1st and when the next boy hit the ball you ran straight out instead of turning towards 2nd 😊 Great memories !!
