When we woke up that morning we had no idea what we were going to do. No plan and we didn’t even know if or how much we would be reimbursed. Once we calmed down and realized that people go through this kind of thing all the time we developed a plan of action. This is what will get us through. I have found that no matter how monumental the task, if broken down into little bite size portions we can do just about anything.
Oh Sh*t The first
The Sh*t continues The Second
At this point I have spoken with just about everyone I needed to all that was left was to find a place to stay for the next couple of days. My first instinct was to find an AIRbnb. I looked but either they were to far away or way to expensive. MSDs insurance had approved 140.00ish per night for 5 days. I eventually settled on a Drury and if you have never stayed at one , you are missing out. Included with their rate They have a very nice spread for breakfast every morning and every night they have dinner and 3 adult beverages per grown up. The first day was a little hectic getting my son used to sharing space with so many people. He couldn’t be quiet to save his life. He’s a talker. You know I was so focused on the house and plans I forgot how much of an adventure it must be for him. I really was so worried about behaving our selves that I forgot to have fun and to be honest I’m still struggling with it. I wish sometimes I could channel all of his energy and attitude. We all slept pretty good that first night. Will was in heaven because we had a king size bed(which he took up most of himself). The next morning Lindsay was going to meet the remediation company at the house and let them get started. I checked in with her once I knew she had finished meeting with them. The original plan was that Servpro would handle anything that needed to be done with the HVAC system and hot water heater but they had asked that we get our own guy, so I called Christopher Comfort we have been using them for years at this house and the last one. He said he would drop by that afternoon and let me know what he thinks. He called back a couple hours later and told me what I feared he would say ” you need a new furnace”. That’s when I found out that no limit doesn’t actually mean no limit. MSD mandates that they give me actual value for everything which means they will give me what a twenty year old furnace is worth. So if any of you know a place where I can buy one please let me know. After this bit of news my 3 free drinks couldn’t come soon enough. This wasn’t the case for just the HVAC system it was the carpet, the pool table, the furniture, everything. Oh well it is what is right? Well I don’t know so that was when I decided to contact an attorney just to find out. STAY TUNED. We will be meeting with the insurance adjuster tomorrow and I’ll fill you in on what the lawyer said.
