Dudes Day: Vol. 13 Moms and Dudes

Today is Mothers Day. Will and I Woke up very excited to celebrate his mother(My Wife). I make brunch every year for the family and I always make the same thing, Eggs,Potatoes, and Andouille Sausage in a skillet. I get the Potatoes and Sausage from Soulard farmers market. I really love this place but since we moved farther into the county I really haven’t gone as much as I used to. I took Will with me there yesterday and he absolutely loved it. He walked around with his nose in the air for the first fifteen minutes asking what that smell and this smell was. He was fascinated by the people, the smells, and the music. There was an old timer playing Banjo and  the man stopped playing and asked my son if he would like to play for minute. He of course said no, but he did stick around and dance to a couple of songs. I will definitely be bringing him back down there sometime. I woke up super early to start cutting and preparing the food. I was thinking that I could at least get an hour in before Will woke up and get all the cutting done, but I was wrong. Will got up shortly afterwards and came into the kitchen cause he wanted to help.My boy was very excited about celebrating Mom today. This was a very fun morning for us. I sliced while he put the items in the bowl. We put on one of his favorite cartoons and tried to stay as quiet as possible to let Mom sleep in a little. It was the least we could do.

The Day went as planned we had the family over and ate and conversed for at least six hours. After everyone had left Will went down for a nap and I decided to run some errands. This gave Mom what she really wanted for Mothers Day. SOME QUIET TIME. At the end of the day I was reflecting back on my son and his interaction with his Mother. As a father I feel the way I do about him and he feels the way he does about me, but it is really something special to see the way he looks at his Mom. He looks to her for compassion, and sympathy which she provides plenty of. For a long time I have paid attention to the way he looks at me whether it is when he is sitting next to me or from across the room and these moments are some of my favorites. I had never noticed the way he looked at his mom. Today I did, as a matter of fact I fixated on it. There is no doubt that a boy loves his mother, but the way in which my son looks at his mom is unbelievable. He would at times just gaze at her for what seemed like minutes and just smile. I have noticed that As parents we have regular interactions with our kids like talking and listening and then we have these little moments of just watching and these are by far my favorite. I hope that as he grows and matures that I will always be fascinated with just watching my son, but more than anything else I hope that he always looks at his mother the way he did today, with pure love and complete amazement. We Love you Lindsay.
